Sanaa Lathan Hairstyles: Charming Dark Locks

Sanaa Lathan was born on September 19, 1971. She is a Tony Award-nominated American actress. She starred in box office hits such as Love & Basketball, Alien vs. Predator, and Something New. She was born in New York City. Following her training at Yale, where she performed in a number of Shakespearean plays, Lathan earned fame in both off-Broadway and on the Los Angeles stage.

Lathan earned a degree of recognition with her role as the mother of Wesley Snipes’ title character in Blade. In the subsequent year with back-to-back turns, she got double blockbuster hits – The Best Man and The Wood. The first flick was a comic ensemble starring Taye Diggs, Nia Long and Morris Chestnut and the second was starred with Diggs and Omar Epps where Lathan acted as love interest of the latter.

Lathan and Epps were reunited onscreen in Prince-Blythewood’s Love & Basketball. The film served as a major breakthrough where Lathan played a leading character. In most of he erstwhile gigs her roles were predominantly of supporting actress. In Love and Basketball, Lathan earned the ‘Best Actress’ nominations for both the NAACP Image Award and the Independent Spirit Award. In the same year, she earned additional achievement for her work in the multicultural comedy Catfish in Black Bean Sauce. The movie was her second collaboration with Prince-Blythewood.

Based on a novel by Terry McMillan, the HBO movie Catfish in Black Bean Sauce cast Lathan as an aspiring singer/songwriter in love with a carpenter played by her Blade co-star Wesley Snipes. For her role in the film, the actress earned an Essence Award for Best Actress, as well as the added assurance of a very busy work schedule. In the same year, she was named by Ebony as one of the magazine’s 55 Most Beautiful People and was honored by Essence magazine and Black Entertainment Television.

Lathan starred in several major Hollywood action flicks including Alien vs. Predator which is considered to be her biggest role till date. The movie was a major success grossing over US$171 million worldwide. Out of Time was also an important role for Lathan as she played the bad girl. In 2006, Lathan co-starred with Simon Baker in Something New, a romantic comedy about an interracial relationship.

Following her role of Michelle Landau in the fourth season of the television series Nip/Tuck, Lathan is scheduled to act in a Tyler Perry film A Family That Prays Together. The film also features other prominent actresses like Jennifer Hudson, Kathy Bates, and Alfre Woodard. Lathan is admired for her acting talents and good looks all across the globe.
