Hair style for various face shapes

Everyone these days wants to look stylish and trendy but what people forget is that every person has a different face shape and hence, people should get their hair styled according to their face shape. One should not get influenced by seeing celebrity hairstyles or other people’s hairstyles because it is possible that the hairstyle that suits their face shapes may not suit yours. A hairstyle brings out one’s personality so make sure you choose a hairstyle that you won’t regret later.

Before you get a hair cut, it is important to consult a professional hair stylist so that they can guide you as to what would suit your face structure which would help you achieve the hair style you desire.

How to find out your face shape

To find out the face shape of a person one can either look into the mirror or outline it with a lipstick or one can measure it with a measuring tape. One may measure their face by the following process:-

Measure your face from the top of your cheekbones and make a note of it.

Then measure across your jaw line from the widest points and make a note of it.

Measure across your forehead that would be somewhere around your eyebrows and hairline and note it down.

And, lastly measure from the tip of the hairline to the bottom of your chin.

Now, length equal to one and a half times width makes it an Oval face, when the width and the length of the face is equal it makes a Round face, when your face is longer than its wide then one’s facial shape is Oblong. When your face is narrow at the jaw line, wide at the cheekbones or forehead it makes a Heart shaped face. When your face is just about as long as it is wide it’s a Square face. Lastly, when your face is widest at the cheekbones with a narrow forehead and jaw line of equal widths it makes a Diamond face.

Facial shape and suitable hairstyles

Below, are mentioned some hairstyles that would suit different facial shapes and are ideal for those wishing to get a new look.

Square face: For a square face one can choose a hairstyle which is feathered at the top and becomes softer around the ears. But make sure that you don’t get any hair cut above the jaw line because that will only exaggerate the square ness of your face.

Oval face: For an oval face if one wishes to keep their hair long, one should get it styled with soft layers throughout or a short bob which is longer at the sides and shorter at the back.

Heart shaped face: For a heart shaped face, choose something which will create volume at the bottom of your face but make sure that you don’t keep your hair too long. Also, take care that you don’t choose a hairstyle that has too much height at the crown.

Round face: For this type of a facial shape try for choppy layers at the back and the bottom of your hair to give it a stylish look. Also, make sure that since your widest point is your cheeks; avoid having fullness of the hair here.

Oblong face: For these facial shapes go shorter so that the hair looks thicker and the face looks wider. A razor cut that is edgy would look good. Make sure that you don’t keep your hair too long as it will make your face look longer.

Diamond face: Almost everything works with your face shape starting from not too short bangs to fringes or shoulder length cuts with feathered edges.

With appropriate guidance and sense of style one can get their hair styled thatwould suit their face and their personality which is an important factor. One should not be scared to experiment but should just keep some points in mind to get what one desires because a stylish new hair style brings out a stylish new you.
