Flat Irons
Some people love their locks when they are curly, while others dote on straight tresses. Some like short tresses some like them long and some settle in for medium hair length. Spring and summer bring in new hairstyles. Most style changes are done during the summers. The cold has finally gone and everyone wants a new look that looks good. Straight hair is the in thing these days - models, actresses and teenagers – everyone is sporting straight hair. Achieving this look isn’t that easy if you have curly hair. Due to the awesome styles available with straight hair, everyone is going in for this look and flat irons have gained immense popularity.

Flat irons are composed of a special iron that straightens the hair and flat plates made of ceramic. Flat irons not only straighten the hair, but also make it shiny and smooth. Flat irons can be expensive or cheap, depending upon the quality of the product that is being bought.

Ceramic flat irons are basically used to straighten frizzy hair. They tame extremely curly or curly hair, making it appear shiny, glossy and super smooth. Flat irons are also used to straighten flyaway hair – flyaway hair is the outcome of a positive state that the hair tends to hold in its natural state. The ceramic flat iron works by combining the electrical, thermal, and mechanical forces to smoothen the hair.

The three elements which make ceramic flat irons work are:

Electrical Forces: Flyaway hair can be fixed with the flat iron. A negative electrical charge is held by the ceramic plates of the flat iron. This negative charge prevailing on the flat iron plates works against the positive charge on hair to make it flat and straight.

Thermal Forces: The thermal forces of the flat iron temporarily straighten curly hair. It is able to do so because of the heat of the flat iron that restructure the protein bonds in the hair temporarily and straighten the hair as the iron is pulled across the length of the hair.

Mechanical Forces: Many people suffer from dull and lifeless looking hair due to undergoing many chemical treatments such as perming and coloring to make hair look better. When a person has not gone under any chemical process to treat the hair, the cuticles present on the hair shaft lay flat. But, if a person has gone under chemical processes to treat the hair, the cuticles on the hair shaft open up, thus making the hair appear dry and lifeless. The flat iron helps in the re-alignment of the cuticles in a downward direction, thereby restoring smoothness and shine of the dull and dry and brittle hair.

Four different styles you can get using flat irons:

Flat Straight : This look can be achieved by inserting one or two inch shafts of hair between the plates. Next, the handle has to be pressed together. Once you have done this, the iron has to be moved smoothly and slowly throughout the entire length of the hair in the direction from roots to the ends.

Soft Curls : This look can be achieved by inserting one or two inch sections of the shafts of hair between the plates of the flat iron. Now, the handle has to be pressed and worked through the entire length of the hair, turning it softy. This will give you straight hair but curled at the ends.

Flip Out : This look can be achieved by inserting one or two inch shafts of hair between the plates. Now, the handle has to be pressed together and the iron has to be worked through the hair starting from the roots of the hair to the ends of the hair. Once you reach the ends, slightly curl the hair towards the outside.

Flip In : This look can be achieved by inserting one or two inch shafts of hair between the plates. Now, the handle has to be pressed together and the iron has to be worked through the hair starting from the roots of the hair to the ends of the hair. Once you reach the ends, slight curl the hair towards the inside.

Flat iron is a great device that enables you to get sleeker, straighter and sexier locks in just a few minutes. You can style your tresses the way you like before a party, get together, lunch or dinner.
