Hair Rinses for a shinier mane

Hair is the most significant feature of any individual. It adds to an individual’s personality and looks and is an important indicator of beauty and health. Everybody wants to have a well nourished and gorgeous mane that highlights the features and enhances the personality. Hair has the capability of creating an illusion of width or height to suit the shape of your face. There are various types of hair varying from individual to individual that can be classified as normal, dry, greasy or combination hair.

It is essential to take care of your hair in order to maintain its beauty and shine. A lusterless mane makes you look unhealthy and dull, whereas glossy hair adds feathers to your personality. Grooming is an essential part of a good hair care program. This comprises of shampooing, rinsing, conditioning, brushing etc. The secret of good shampooing lies in thorough rinsing. After shampooing and conditioning your hair you must rinse as much as you can. It is necessary to make sure that you don’t leave even a negligible trace of residue. Squeaky hair denotes a clean head. If soft water is not available, give your hair a rinse containing apple cider and vinegar after shampooing it.

Types of Hair Rinse:

After Shampoo hair rinse: Well rinsed hair has a clear, shiny appearance. Rinsing cannot harm or damage your hair. You may prepare your own home remedies for the final rinse as it is more convenient and less expensive. After shampoo rinses do not affect the original color of the hair. They give the hair a better shine and body. The simplest way is to concoct and use a herbal infusion.

Basic infusion: The basis proportion recipe is 4 table spoons of fresh herbs, leaves or flowers, to 900ml of boiling water. For dried herbs, the proportion will be 1 tbsp of dried herbs to 900 ml of boiling water.

Method: Add herbs to boiling water and allow simmering for 15 minutes. Cover the brew and leave it for at least 3 hours to get a strong infusion. After steeping, the herbs will settle at the bottom of the vessel. Strain and use this concoction. One pint is sufficient for the final rinse.

Use 2 mugs for the after shampoo rinse, one to pour and the other to catch. If rain water is available, use it after filtering.

Herbal hair rinses:

Parsley after shampoo rinse: It helps to prevent dandruff.

Ingredients: 4 tbsp of fresh Parsley.

900 ml boiled water.

Method: Make a basic infusion by adding fresh Parsley to boiling water. Simmer for 15 minutes and leave for 3 hours. Then strain and use the concoction.

Celery after shampoo rinse:

Ingredients: Celery leaves and lemon juice

Method: Make a basic infusion of Celery leaves. After it cools, add lemon juice and rinse your hair with it.

Mint after shampoo rinse:

Ingredients: 4 tbsp of mint leaves

900 ml boiled water

Method: Make a basic infusion by boiling the mint leaves for 3 hours and simmering them for 15 minutes.

Tea after shampoo rinse:

Ingredients: 1 tbsp of teal leaves (dried)

900 ml of boiled water

Method: Make a basic infusion by boiling the tea leaves for 3 hours and simmering them for 3 minutes.

Nettle after shampoo rinse:

Ingredients: Nettle leaves

A slice of Orange or lemon peals

Method: Use rubber gloves while handling these leaves as they have stinging properties. Once the herb is boiled the stinging glands break. Make a basic infusion and add a slice of orange or lemon peals before using.

Rosemary after shampoo rinse:

Ingredients: 4tbsp Rosemary

900 ml water

Method: Make a basic infusion using Rosemary. It is an excellent after shampoo final rinse. It makes the hair glossy, smooth and manageable.

Protein hair rinses:

These rinses help you to lubricate and strengthen hair. Use these rinses on days when you are not going out.

Wheat germ rinse: Take 4 tbsp of powdered Wheat germ and tie in a muslin bag. Soak the bag in 1 pint of water for 3 hours. Squeeze the bag and use the solution to rinse the hair. This is an ideal treatment for dry or brittle hair.

Whey after shampoo rinse: Collect and strain Whey. Use it for rinsing the heir. This is a very inexpensive protein rinse as Whey liquid contains abundant protein.

Oatmeal rinse: Fill your muslin bag with 4 tbsp of powdered oatmeal and soak the fastened bag in a pint of water for 3 to 4 hours. Squeeze out the milky white liquid and use it as a protein rinse.
